You sign in with Google. One person, one account. The key is yours to keep secret, and it works like a password for your credit.
If someone else spends credit with your key, that is the key holder's problem, so do not paste it into public sheets, repos or bookmarks. The Sheets recipe shows how to keep it in script properties.
Be reasonable. The credit price is low because most scripts make a few calls, not millions per minute. If a loop of yours starts to disturb other users, we may slow or pause the key until you fix it.
The numbers come from our own crawler and our own index, refreshed roughly monthly. They can be late, incomplete or wrong for a specific page.
